美術家・小沢剛の演出は、3.11後の世界に向き合うイェリネクのテキストの複雑さと生々しさにストレートに呼応する、雑多で具体的な体験に満ちたものだった。美術展を模した会場に並ぶのは、イェリネクのテキストがそのまま刻み込まれた絵画や写真、オブジェ。やがて、静かな鑑賞の時間を引き裂くようにバタバタと類人猿が現れる。牛の遺体を引きずり、床に叩き付けて見せる彼は、悲嘆に暮れているのだろうか。やがて制御の利かない自動演奏の「ゾンビ音楽」が流れ、フラダンサーが踊る混沌とした雰囲気の中、観客たちは放射性廃棄物を思わせる巨大な袋が並ぶ殺風景な部屋＝終幕の場へと導かれていく――。

Visual artist Tsuyoshi Ozawa here responded to the complexities of Jelinek’s post-3.11 text with this diverse performance. The venue took on the form of an art exhibition, with Jelinek’s text engraved into paintings, photographs and various objet. Amid the quiet viewing of these artworks a frantic ape burst in. It began to drag the carcasses of dead cows and beat the floor in despair. The atmosphere was further disquieted by Hula dancing and the “zombie music” of mechanical instrument. The audience was then led to a final stark vista, a giant mound of bags evocative of radioactive waste.
